You’ve Won!

news clipping

A couple of weeks ago, a colleague of mine received a very exciting email informing him that he’d won a huge amount of money from some odd (but very official sounding) oversees organization. They didn’t ask for any personal information so my friend replied, thanked them, and let them know he couldn’t wait to start living the high-life.

Yesterday he got another similar email. This one was too good not to post here verbatim. The following is the email just as he got it word for word, punctuation for punctuation, bolded parts left as bold. I’ve only ommitted my friends name.

How are you today

Good news for you I have is able to make arrangement for you to have your winning money in Canada with help of diplomatic courier service as consignment.

So all you need to do now is for get ready and go to Canada and have your consignment winning money cleared remember as you are going to meet the diplomat for your consignment you be require to pay for the clearance and diplomatic tag on your consignment

The clearance tag is 7,820 dollars which you need to carry along with you to Canada and have your consignment cleared and collect your winning in cash the diplomat do not know what is inside the consignment so do not tell him just go and have it cleared.

As soon as I hear from you the diplomat will contact you and meet him next day to have your consignment cleared.

I hope all is clearly understood now.

Best Regard

Understandably, my friend has submitted his resignation and is packing his bags as I write this.

Personally I was a little confused about where, exactly, he was supposed to go when he got to Canada.

This didn’t bother him a bit. He’s a very optimistic guy. When he gets to Canada, he’s simplly going to shout, “I’m Here!!”

All is clearly understood now.

    Oh my heck.

I know. If you’re going to try to rip someone off, at least don’t be so stupid about it.

The crazy thing is - even though to you and I it does sound cooky that someone might actually think this is ‘legit’, many out there might really pack their bags and head for airports only to find disappointment at the other end … AND an empty home / apartment back home when they return!!! It does happen!

I also get several emails informing me of the riches that are waiting for me but I just delete them and go straight for the Free Colon Cleanse.
I mean, really, why wouldn’t ya? Clean pipes are very important.
