I know I’ve been completely phoning it in lately. For anybody still out there visiting this blog, I can only apologize and offer up the lame excuse that the work I’m doing in getting my M.Ed (masters in education) is sucking up all my spare time and energy.
Trust me, however, I’ll be back. Sooner or later.
Until then, I’ll just keep phoning it in with stuff like the following cool quote from a candid moment with Barack Obama. It’s from a series Newsweek is doing called “Secrets of the 2008 Campaign.” The series idea is, in itself, an interesting way for media to try to keep people interested in (and reading about) the election for just awhile longer. I myself am glad the election is over so I won’t be so distracted by all the intrigue.
The debates unnerved both candidates. When he was preparing for them during the Democratic primaries, Obama was recorded saying, “I don’t consider this to be a good format for me, which makes me more cautious. I often find myself trapped by the questions and thinking to myself, ‘You know, this is a stupid question, but let me … answer it.’ So when Brian Williams is asking me about what’s a personal thing that you’ve done [that's green], and I say, you know, ‘Well, I planted a bunch of trees.’ And he says, ‘I’m talking about personal.’ What I’m thinking in my head is, ‘Well, the truth is, Brian, we can’t solve global warming because I f—ing changed light bulbs in my house. It’s because of something collective’.”

Two things. One; don’t apologize. It’s your blog and you can write (or not) as you damned well please. I well remember the crazy of getting my Master’s, and besides, like I said… your blog, your schedule.
Two; I’m in love with Obama. He seems to me like the first REAL guy to occupy the office IN MY LIFETIME. I have hope…
Anonymous,
Two things:
1) You’re cool. Thanks for the reminder.
2) That’s all I ever really ask of my leadership–allow me to have hope. Not “give me hope” or “lower my taxes” or “make my life better” or “save the world”. I have hope too.

Chris,
You’re doing great! Your hard work is going to pay off and we’ll all be the better for it. In the meantime I’ll look forward to reading anything you have time to post, any time you do.
Keep the faith, my friend…
Darren
Thanks Darren.

I have to say I do look forward to your posts. As a fellow teacher of the ever-dramatic 7th grader, I love reading about your adventures! I wonder if I should begin to write down my memories as well. It is my first year teaching and I have a lot to learn, but its good to know theres those who still enjoy it!! Thank you and gl on the m.ed.
Thanks Cara!
I really do appreciate that.
I’ll have to get back to more regular posts soon, but in the meantime YES! you should begin to write down your memories. There is so much! And its a great way to keep a sense of humor (and sanity).
Chris
