Dear America (and the rest of the world),

My name is Christopher Colin Wondra. I am an American citizen. I live in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. I am a father, teacher, home owner.

You might know me. You might not. What I’m sure you probably don’t know, however, is that I am an amazingly powerful creator of my reality on this earth and in this universe.

My power is in my expectation, my attitude, my actions, my behavior. I expect, and therefore create, a comfortable lifestyle using resources that are limited.

Ultimately, this is unsustainable and harmful to my mother–The Earth.

It’s hard for me to admit, but I am addicted to cheap oil and I am unable to free myself from this addiction. Therefore I demand that oil continues to flow freely and abundantly despite the fact that it is becoming increasingly difficult to tap.

I am sorry.

I forced the economic machine, and my government, into supporting increasingly risky ventures to find and bring to me the oil I require at a price I demand.

This pressure. This expectation. This demand. From me. Created this disaster.

I am angry with myself.

My expectations and behavior have, through a logical and economically efficient chain, caused the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

For weeks now, I have noticed a lot of finger pointing. I just want to set the record straight.

It was me.

And so, I take full responsibility–for both the problem and the fix.

Understand that.

Understand also, that I will fix this.

I will not attempt to explain my way around this. For too long now, talk, like oil, has been cheap–and ineffective. No more. I will fix this. But not with words, for they have no power of their own.

I will fix this mess just as I created it. I will fix it–with my expectations, with my behavior, with my actions.

And I will pay for it. I will do the hard physical and emotional work that it will take to change my expectations, my behavior, my attitude, my actions.

Ultimately, through a chain of subtle yet powerful events and relationships, fear will melt away leading to healthier, cleaner, more peaceful transactions, supply chains, economies, environments.

And Earth.

It was me. It is me. I Am . . . Responsible.
