    Thank you for your blog. I am working on a case for a couple who were scammed by the DirectBuy in Long Beach / Signal Hill.

    I have been reading the numerous responses you have received from other bloggers and let the couple know they are not alone in being deceived.

    Did you ever have any luck resolving your DirectBuy dispute or has anyone started a class action lawsuit?

    I walked out of a DB presentation today. We were watching the sales video and my heart started pounding and I felt nauseous. It just felt like a huge scam and I had to get out of there.
    It was so high pressure !! If It was so good – I was thinking — wouldn’t they just give you the facts and let you made a decision ‘like an adult’?? They were talking to us like we were idiots !!
    I was so dissappointed; I wanted it to be good.

    I am having a major problem with a Direct Buy franchise.. I have contacted the owner of the franchise and I am getting no help at all..Do you know if the headquarters in Indiana has a complaint department or someone specific I should talk to. Hope you can help. Thanks, Debbie

    Found your site quite by accident, which is the coolest accident that’s happened for too long. (Actually, was searching info re: DirectBuy for some home projects; thanks for sharing your info. and sources of info. Very helpful.)
    I don’t do lotsa web-time, so it’s quality time is of the essence.

    im not sure how i came about your page… i think it was when i was reasearching the Peter answers website and how it works (A couple friends had told me it knew a lot of information about them and said creepy things). Well i was very intrested on what you had to say about it and was wondering if you found out who john was, because i tried the whole period at the begining thing and it worked but john answered. have you found out any new information on this?

    Hi, I just read your boxelder bug piece and I just wanted to give some friendly advise. If you have a tree or a side of a house that is covered in them, if you spray them with water with dish soap in it, they will die!! We used to have to do this in our old house because they were literally EVERYWHERE. Good luck!

    I”ve been a enthusiast of your site for many months..(pls 4give my p-n-qs)..active Primerica (business owner).right….there are many behind the scenes kind of stuff, just like your local bank..get charge for sneezing the wrong way..,,will contact you in refers to Prime…..But today’s concern am losing my house after 10 years,,blood,sweat, and tears we”ve put in this property.     I purchased a directbuy memebership back in February. I lost my job and am not able to make the payments anymore. I’ve only used it once and it was the wrost experience i have ever had. I’ve tried to speak to the owner and the finance company but it seems as if i’m just getting the run around. Do youhave any advice? Is there a class action lawsuit, I should know about? Please help

    I have a SMART loan at 8 % interest and the pre-payment penalty will be up in July. I don’t really understand about the simple interest, etc. but am debating going ahead and checking into re-financing now or waiting until July in hopes that the interest rates won’t go up…Can you advise?

      Not knowing your whole situation, payments, etc . . . July really isn’t that far away. My gut tells interest rates probably won’t go up that much, if at all. The economy is still not in that great of shape. I’d wait and avoid a prepayment penalty. But you have to run the numbers yourself.

    Please help me. Back in January of this year I went t the Direct buy center here in Cheektowag,NY with my adult daugther. Kevin who discribed himself as the franchise owner and a CPA sold me a mebership. My daughter declined. within the 72 hour period I called Kevin and cancelled the mebership.
    I have been getting calls and bills from beta finance evr since. I explained the situation to them,and was told that they would send a memo or something to the franchise. I received a e-mail from Jennifer Wlyczak advsing me that she would help me resolve the matter, but did not know who Kevin was. I replied but have not heard back. I placed a call to the store to inquire about my refund. but have not been able to locate an extension for Jennifer

    I have been reading over comments and the Q&A with DB and am still not feeling better about the situation I was put thru. With all of the economic issues that people have been faced with lately this company is not showing any heart and allowing people out of contracts that now is just beyond their means. I am such a person who had to sell and move in with family to afford life and now I am being put in collections over DB. Ihave never used the service and I feel stuck its frustrating with no end in site.

    Found this because I was looking for corporate hq for Direct Buy because I had “looked” at the company and they told me I was “entered” to win a key. The woman went on to trying to drag me into an appt, patronizing and ended up sounding like a “timeshare dealer”. I wont even bother since I stumbled onto your blog and have read other people’s issues. Thx for having this. (First time I ever really read a blog that was worth while). Go Teachers

    If anyone knows how to get out of a DirectBuy contract, I am interested. I was told by the owner that I had 3 days under the Home Solicitation Act to cancel and they would refund the charge to my credit card. Now the finance company tells me that only DB can do it and DB says that they have their money from the finance and credit card company.
